Description

Part 1 is the online classroom portion of the Texas Level III Commissioned Security Officer course, the training required to qualify for an armed Security Officer Commission. Complete this portion online at your own pace before attending the required in-person Part 2 session (range qualification and hands-on defensive tactics).

What this portion covers

• Laws — Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Art. 14.01 (warrantless arrest) and Art. 18.16 (recovery of stolen property), Texas Penal Code §30.05 (Criminal Trespass)
• Field notes & report writing — the 8 essential elements of a security officer’s report and the two standard report types
• Crime scene procedures — preserving evidence integrity and the consequences of contamination
• Use of force — the five force options and the Dynamic Resistance Response Model (DRM)

After completing Part 1, you’ll register for the in-person Part 2 session (defensive tactics, handcuffing, baton, and firearms range qualification) — listed separately as an in-person class.
